What this means for you

How this analysis works.

Developer prices and resale market prices for the same timeshare can differ by 5x to 20x. That gap is the developer's marketing budget, sales commissions, and profit margin baked into the contract you sign in a presentation room.

The resale value comes from

Recent completed sales on the secondary market — TUG marketplace listings, eBay auctions, resale broker closing data, and our own listing comparables. We adjust for brand multiplier (Marriott commands a premium over Wyndham), unit size, season tier, and whether the ownership is deeded or RTU.

What it doesn't measure

It doesn't measure use value — what the timeshare is worth to you personally based on how you actually vacation. If you use your week every year, love your resort, and would have spent $4,000+ on equivalent lodging anyway, the resale gap matters less. The math here is about what the market would pay, not what the product is worth to your family.

Why ResortFlips can tell you this honestly

We don't sell timeshares. We don't take referrals from developers. We make money only when an owner-to-owner transaction closes through our marketplace — which means the cleaner the resale market is, the better we do. Telling you the truth is our business model.
